Alleged wife murderer, Arnold Terblanche, will welcome the new year behind bars after his most recent attempt at bail was dismissed today, December 23 in the Gqeberha Magistrate's Court.
This was the 54-year-old's third attempt at bail.
During his judgement, Magistrate Kriban Pillay went over Terblanche's previous applications, giving a recollection of why they had not been successful. Pillay also made reference to Terblanche's dealings with Phindile Zweni, chairperson of the South African Sentenced and Awaiting Trial Prisoners Association (SASAPO) to whom Terblanche admitted paying more than R500 000.
Reference was also made to threatening messages allegedly sent by Terblanche to another state witness and family member of his late wife, Leonie Jordan.
These incidents, according to Pillay, proved that Terblanche had the intention to interfere with state witnesses.
Terblanche will appear in this court again on January 20, 2023. In the meantime, his legal team will study the judgement before making a decision on whether to appeal.
Along with his co-accused, Reinhardt Leach and Dylan Cullis, Terblanche faces several charges relating to the murder of his estranged wife, Vicki Terblanche.
Her body was found in a shallow grave in Greenbushes in October last year.
