Cillié High School is buzzing with pride as it introduces three outstanding high school learners who have soared to remarkable success in their respective sports.

Hailey Sneyd in netball, Brad Solomon in cross-country running, and Inami Mngewu in rugby, have all showcased exceptional talent, and also emerged as beacons of inspiration for their peers and the wider community.

Sneyd, a 15-year-old dynamo on the netball court, swiftly gained recognition as a standout u/15 player, and a vital asset to the school’s second team.

Her prowess was evident as early as last year when, in Grade 8, she clinched certificates and trophies for her outstanding shooting skills. Bolstered by this early success, Sneyd has set her sights on becoming an even more versatile player, aiming at elevating her game and contributing to her team’s triumphs.

Her aspirations extend to playing for supreme teams in major cities like Cape Town, Gauteng, and Durban, a testament to her unwavering determination and ambition.

Solomon (16) has carved out a name for himself in the realm of cross-country running.

Despite only two to three years in the sport, Solomon has quickly risen to prominence, earning accolades such as the Attie Etsebeth trophy for best cross-country athlete during his Grade 9 year, along with the Willie Tesnar floating trophy for the best boys’ cross country, and the Junior Victor Ludorum trophy.

His remarkable consistency and dedication were further underscored in Grade 10, as he clinched these prestigious awards once more, cementing his status as the top cross-country athlete for two consecutive years. Solomon’s passion for running drives him to continuously surpass his own limits, leaving an indelible mark on the cross-country landscape.

Mngewu, also 16, has emerged as a standout in the Cillié rugby team, showcasing remarkable maturity and skill on the field. His aspirations extend beyond the school grounds, with dreams of pursuing rugby even after completing his education, viewing the sport not only as a passion but also as a means of supporting himself and his family.

Despite the absence of trophies in their rugby league, Mngewu remains resolutely focused on his goal for the current year, securing a spot in the EP team.

As these three exceptional learners continue to excel in their respective sports, they serve as examples of talent, dedication, and perseverance within the Cillié High School community. Their achievements not only bring glory to the school, but also inspire future generations of athletes to dream big and strive for excellence.
