A new committee was elected at the recently held annual meeting of the Avon-Tijger Neighbourhood Watch. The meeting was held on Thursday last week at the NG kerk Oosterzee.

Roger Cannon, Ward councillor, attended the meeting along with Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen.

Cannon thanked the residents for attending, saying the venue was packed.

“Issues concerning safety and security were shared by the MEC, mostly regarding vagrants. We also encouraged and emphasised that the community should join their local neighbourhood watches,” says Cannon.

The newly elected neighbourhood watch committee members are Riaan de Jager (chair), Mario Erlank (vice-chair), Bennie van Almelo (patrol captain), Bennie Hesse (vice-captain), Jeanette Venter (secretary), Hans Huysamen (finance), Nicolette du Toit (ward representative), Natasha du Toit (admin) and Kim de Jager (admin).
