Sassa gold cards still active, says Postbank

There seems to be confusion among residents from Goodwood about the expiration dates of their Sassa gold cards.

They want to know if their expired Sassa gold cards will continue to work in the new year. This comes after a senior resident went to the Goodwood Post Office to get her new card and was told it’s not necessary to renew her soon-to-be-expired gold card, because it will continue working into the new year until further notice.

The resident left with more questions than answers.

But the good news is, Dr Bongani Diako, Postbank spokesperson, says he can confirm that the Sassa gold cards will not expire.

“They will continue to work in December 2023 and beyond for the payment of social grants,” says Diako.

Diako adds that “beneficiaries should not be misled into changing to other cards that are often costly to service, and lose out on the transaction benefits of the Sassa Gold cards”.
