The City of Cape Town says water pipes have been successfully replaced throughout the city including Goodwood.
According to the City’s Mayco member for water and sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, the new pipelines were installed in the Tygerdal area. These include Vryburger, Oranje, Constantia, De Reyger, Palm Crescent, Riebeeck and Wessel-Lourens streets.
“Trenchless technology was used to replace pipes in two projects.
“The first project took place between September 2022 and December 2022 and the second project between October 2023 and March 2024,” says Badroodien.
He says that the City has confidence in its pipe replacement programme as the probability of encountering issues with the newer water supply infrastructure is significantly reduced.
“The water pressure across the city is being maintained at a minimum of 2,4 bar at the critical point due in the reticulation network – this includes Goodwood. The critical point is that point in the reticulation system where the pressure will be the lowest. Residents should log a call with the City if they experience low water pressure,” says Badroodien.
