Learners from Khanyisa School for the Blind had a blast exploring the mini-library inside the Uitenhage Library in Market Street, Kariega, recently. It was their first visit to the mini-library, which was moved to its current location in May last year and caters specifically for blind and partially sighted individuals.
They were introduced to the e-reader, taught how best to utilise the two computer stations in the library and how to get their books on their own Envoy Connect, a device that reads audiobooks aloud and which they can take home. Individuals or groups who wish to find out more can visit the Uitenhage Library where senior librarian Nompumelelo Ngcoko and library assistant Nomfundiso Mka – the mini-library assistants – know more.
