Members of the Bronville police’s Social Crime Prevention unit conducted an outreach programme in Aurora Street, Bronville, after five shack houses burnt down in the week of 15 to 20 April.
Members of the Matjhabeng police’s Disaster unit were also part of this Samaritan act, which was expanded to include church leaders such as Apostle Gert Visagie.
Hampers and clothes were handed out to the family members who now found themselves without a home.
“This gesture showcases that police members are not just there to arrest, but take into consideration the needs of the community they serve and protect,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
