The executive mayor of the Matjhabeng Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha (63), was yesterday arrested and formally charged.
Capt. Stephen Thakeng, police spokesperson, has confirmed this, stating that Khalipha is facing a charge of common assault and two counts of crimen injuria. The mayor has been summoned to appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrates' Court on 24 May.
