A delegation from Baoji City, China visited the West Coast on Tuesday 20 February.

They visited three entities, the West Coast District Municipality, Longacres Private School and Radio West Coast.

Key collaborations were established, including organising a large delegation of government and business representatives from Shaanxi Province to visit the West Coast later in the year, covering various sectors such as industrial manufacturing, food, tourism, education, and aerospace. Additionally, a sister city agreement was formalised between the West Coast and Baoji City to promote cooperation and exchange.

At Longacres Private School, cooperation projects and goals were agreed upon, aiming to enhance international perspectives for students through such initiatives as adding a “Friendship School” in South Africa, organising local student communities, facilitating exchange programmes between South Africa and China, and leveraging online publicity and media coverage.

Radio West Coast’s visit was also successful, as it was invited along to join a national-level cooperation programme called “Digital Migration”, fostering cultural exchange and cooperation through media promotion between China and South Africa.

These initiatives signify a promising start for the development of the West Coast region.
