Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence (JSCI) has been mandated to investigate the alleged involvement of deputy state security minister Zizi Kodwa in a cover up as well as claims that secret police intelligence funds were used to investigate a burglary at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Limpopo farm in February 2020.
The move has been slammed by the leader of the official opposition, the Democratic Alliance’s John Steenhuisen, to claim that "in a sense a major subterfuge" was under way to "protect the president’s interests".
