The Auditor-General (AG) is investigating loans the Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) advanced to the company of Deputy President Paul Mashatile's son-in-law, Nceba Nonkwelo, for a project that was never done.
According to two sources with intimate knowledge of the issue, the AG decided to hold off with its 2022 management report and audit opinion following News24's exposé in order to re-audit Nonkwelo Investments' project and all loans advanced to the company.
Along with the AG audit, Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Lebogang Maile, ordered the GPF board to investigate the allegations and provide a report. That probe is yet to kick off.
