Deputy President Paul Mashatile regularly frequented an exclusive, members-only Melrose Arch restaurant with membership fees of an estimated R300 000 a year, where he met a string of businesspeople and politicians while seated in a small private section that included a special chair reserved just for him.
Among his dining companions were his friends, members of the so-called Alex Mafia, including Keith Khoza, Nkenke Kekana, Bridgman Sithole, Mike Maile and the late Mpho Moerane, a former mayor of Johannesburg.
News24 understands that politicians Fikile Mbalula, Enoch Godongwana and Lebogang Maile were also guests of Mashatile.
