The deeply polarised elections in Turkey have seen Recep Tayyip Erdogan come out victorious after winning the presidential run-off against Kemal Kiliçdaroglu with just over 52% of the vote.
Erdogan's victory is good for Africa as his foreign policy stance on the continent, which has expanded greatly under his 20-year leadership, will most likely continue, analysts say.
Thembisa Fakude, a senior research fellow and director at Afrasid, who is in Turkey, said he saw much celebration and excitement after the presidential run-off results were confirmed on Sunday.
