At the near-capacity Mandela Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, Pakistan-born education activist Malala Yousafzai called for the world to declare gender apartheid a crime against humanity.
This after she championed the cause of the girls and women in Afghanistan who have been denied the right to education by the Taliban.
Delivering the 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture, Yousufzai said:
