As South Africa's ICJ application against Israel is expected to be heard this week, the Serjeant at the Bar looks at the case against Israel and its defence but concludes that without principled people, it'll be more of the same.

It is truly difficult to pen an objective piece on the Gaza crisis in general and the South African application to the International Court of Justice, in particular. But it is worth trying; so herewith.

 As a starter, the application is not designed to seek a final order from the ICJ. It seeks interim relief against the State of Israel to ensure the protection of the rights of Palestinians from imminent and irreparable harm.
