The Special Investigating Unit (SUI) is South Africa's graft-busting unit uncovering corruption, as well as accounting and supply chain irregularities. But the elite unit is seemingly not spared from the very problems it investigates.
The SIU has declared a dispute with the Auditor-General (AG) on a technical financial matter that occurred during the audit of its annual report. One supply chain management finding is also outstanding.
Given this, the 2022/23 annual report of the SIU will be delayed, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has confirmed in a letter to National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
