In a bid to improve its engagement in the budget process and learn how to recover from the destruction of Parliament, the Joint Standing Committee on the Financial Management of Parliament has set its sights on a study tour to France and Belgium. 

In a committee meeting on Thursday, Parliament's researcher, Mbuyiselo Hlekiso, presented the tour's goal.

He said the purpose of the study was to "engage with their international counterparts to learn how to actively engage in the budget process and become instrumental in budget scrutiny".
