The newly elected leadership of the ANC has committed to cracking the whip on those deployed in government who are not performing, in order to cleanse the image of the party.

Speaking to the media on Sunday in Bloemfontein, after ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa had concluded delivering his January 8 statement, the party's deputy president Paul Mashatile said people who did not perform would lose their positions.

Mashatile added, "The president has also said, where people are not performing, we should not keep them in those positions, so there is going to be a very serious performance assessment process to ensure that where there are glaring weaknesses that are caused by deployees who can’t perform we act and bring in people who can perform."
