According to an opinion poll conducted six weeks before the general elections, the ANC stands to lose 20% of its support.
The Social Research Foundation (SRF) polled 1 835 registered voters in April and found that support for the ANC had plummeted to 37%.
The decline in ANC support appears to have benefitted the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP), which has shown growth that could possibly make it the third-largest party in the country.
