Convicted fraudster and bogus Passenger Rail Association of South Africa (Prasa) engineer Daniel Mthimkhulu says the court should consider his valuable contribution at the SOE during his tenure, adding that none of his properties should be forfeited to the state.

Mthimkhulu, the former head of engineering at Prasa, was fired for lying about his qualifications to score a senior position, and then faking an offer letter from a German firm to drive his salary skyward.

In 2022, Mthimkhulu was convicted on three counts of fraud after it was proven he had misrepresented his qualifications to Prasa, claiming to have a master's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and a doctorate in engineering management from the Technische Universitat Munchen in Germany.
