Foreign nationals who survived the 80 Albert Street blaze - which claimed the lives of 76 people in August - face deportation because their documents were destroyed in the fire.
Last week, Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officers, City personnel, and Department of Home Affairs officials rounded up 32 residents of the building who had been moved to temporary emergency housing at the Hofland Park Community Centre.
Foreign nationals without documents were hauled before the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court, which ruled they be moved to the Lindela Repatriation Centre - a precursor to being sent back to their home countries.
