Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge is one step closer to facing a judicial tribunal over sexual harassment allegations Makhanda court official Andiswa Mengo made against him.
The Women's Legal Centre (WLC), which represented Mengo, issued a statement via X, formerly Twitter, confirming that the sexual harassment complaint against Mbenenge would be referred to a full judicial tribunal.
The centre said the Judicial Complaints Committee (JCC), a sub-committee of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), informed Mengo's lawyers on Friday of its finding that Mengo "has established a prima facie case which, if substantiated, will likely result in a finding of gross misconduct" against Mbenenge.
