Gauteng education department calls for probe into alleged racism at Curro schools on career day

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) says an urgent investigation is needed at Curro schools, following allegations that racial stereotypes were perpetuated at a career day at the school.

The department said a recent social media post by private school group Curro Holdings "conveyed a racially unbalanced narrative concerning the potential future careers of learners".

"[This], however, should be seen within the background of recent racial challenges that Curro has faced, one of which involved a black educator being called a monkey at one of its institutions," the department said.
