The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) says an urgent investigation is needed at Curro schools, following allegations that racial stereotypes were perpetuated at a career day at the school.
The department said a recent social media post by private school group Curro Holdings "conveyed a racially unbalanced narrative concerning the potential future careers of learners".
"[This], however, should be seen within the background of recent racial challenges that Curro has faced, one of which involved a black educator being called a monkey at one of its institutions," the department said.
