For eight long years, Nelson Mandela Bay has been caught in the grip of a disastrous drought, days from knocking at Day Zero's door more than once.

Since 2015, there have been strict water restrictions, prayer sessions at empty dams, water outages and in some cases, dry taps.

But all residents could do was hope and pray for the drought to end.
