After previously insisting that he wished to cooperate with the state capture inquiry and is innocent of any wrongdoing, former president Jacob Zuma has now made it clear that he will defy a Constitutional Court ruling that he must appear before the commission and answer questions.
As such, he will become the second former head of state in South African history to openly defy a summons issued against him by a commission - the first being apartheid prime minister PW Botha, who defied subpoenas issued against him by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
