Some security experts have criticised the SA Human Rights Commission's (SAHRC) report into the July 2021 civil unrest findings against the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) as "unfair".

The SAHRC's report, released this week, was preceded by investigative hearings it undertook from November 2021 to June 2022 in a bid to prevent a recurrence of the deadly riots.

According to the commission, the unrest affected 40 000 businesses and 50 000 informal traders, while 150 000 jobs were put at risk.
