The AbaThembu kingdom in the Eastern Cape says King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo has deep ties with the ANC - but it won't stop him from associating himself with other political parties.

"His Majesty embraces all political leaders as long as they don't have a hidden agenda to finish the existence of the monarch's authority or claim superiority over kings, as that will be an unholy distortion of African history," Dalindyebo's spokesperson, Prince Mthunzi Ngonyama, said.

This comes after a social media stir was caused over the weekend after Dalindyebo attended an ANC rally in the Eastern Cape's Chris Hani region in Ngcobo on Friday, dressed in party regalia.
