KwaZulu-Natal residents have been warned to brace themselves as severe thunderstorms, "which could result in disasters" are expected in parts of the province from Thursday afternoon until midnight.
The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by damaging winds, excessive lightning, hail, and heavy downpours, which may result in infrastructure damage in the northern parts of the province and midlands of uMgungundlovu.
"This weather, as predicted, poses serious threats to infrastructure, households, livestock, and motorists as driving conditions may be difficult. Communities are advised to take proactive measures by moving to safety areas and, where possible, avoid travelling during this period to reduce risk," said KwaZulu-Natal Cogta department spokesperson, Nonala Ndlovu.
