'I don't see this as a good action because it is totally
passive.
In the meantime, Zuma continues to smile and laugh.
For an action to bear fruit, it should engage full
society in targeting at least 60% of the population.
From my point of view, only one way to make Zuma and his
government fall: Stop paying our taxes in diverting them to an attorney's
account for safeguarding till a new head of state and ministers are in place
and prove they deserve our money.' - News24 user Maurice Jaumain
I’m not here for your #BlackMonday, writes Carmen Williams.
'I saw the call to wear black today, but I decided not to join in.
Why?
Because I don’t want to.
I don’t want to wear black now with the same people who think that #FeesMustFall isn’t important and is just about young people trying to get things for free.'
R2K Statement on Cabinet Reshuffle:
Real Democrats Must Stand Up!
'As an organisation that stands for a
democratic society based on the will of the people, the Right2Know Campaign
shares the outrage that is engulfing the country in the wake of President
Zuma’s cabinet reshuffle.
The President cast out those who had opposed his
assault on democratic values or who no longer served his purpose.
We have every
reason to believe this purge had nothing to do with serving the people of South
Africa and everything to do with President Zuma’s programme of eroding
institutions of democratic accountability for personal gain.'

A social media campaign calling on South Africans to shut down the country on Friday and take to the streets is being monitored by police.

"South Africa is one of the most unequal countries in the world, poverty,
unemployment and inequality is what should be fought against, I fail to
understand why are not focusing on those pressing issues." - News24 user Vusi Sibiya
"I support #BlackMonday because Zuma’s recent decisions will
affect ALL South Africans, black, brown or white, rich or poor, employed and
unemployed for YEARS to come. A downgrade to the country's rating will have
disastrous effects on our economy and livelihoods." - News24 user Lesley Damons
