Angry workers linked to the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) at the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality staged a picket in East London on Wednesday, demanding decent jobs from President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The president was in East London, Eastern Cape, to officiate at an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the EPWP.
While the government has praised the benefits of the programme, participants forwarded complaints regarding low pay, nepotism in the recruitment processes, and empty promises of permanent employment.
