One person died and eight others were injured in a bus accident on the R61 between Komani and Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape on Friday.
The occupants were said to be travelling from Komani (formerly Queenstown) to an ANC rally in Ngcobo.
The rally, attended by AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, was addressed by Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane.
Provincial transport department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said there were more than 30 ANC supporters on the bus.

"The injured have been rushed to a hospital in Komani," said Binqose.
It is alleged that, before the crash, the bus lost power driving up a hill.
"A culpable homicide case has been opened for further investigations."
