President Cyril Ramaphosa's claims Russia would declare war on South Africa if it arrested Vladimir Putin have failed to persuade the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has confirmed South Africa is obligated to arrest the Russian president.
This was revealed in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria court order Ramaphosa, and his government agreed to on Friday morning in the Putin arrest litigation launched against the state by the DA.
"The International Criminal Court [ICC] has concluded the Article 97 consultations, and confirmed that the Republic of South Africa, and all other state parties, are obligated to arrest President Putin in terms of the ICC's arrest warrant and requests for cooperation," the first paragraph of the order stated.
