After buckling under a severe drought for the past eight years which led to some farmers closing shop, the Gamtoos Valley, known for, among others, its citrus farming, can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the lifting of water restrictions in the area.
On Wednesday, the Department of Water and Sanitation officially lifted water restrictions on the Kouga/Loerie and Groendal sub-systems.
This means farmers now have their full water quota after almost a decade.
