A body was found floating in a Knysna reservoir on Sunday, prompting the municipality to drain and disinfect it, reducing the amount of water available for residents in the already water-scarce area.
The provincial government has already taken the municipality to task over "collapsed" water and refuse service delivery in the area and has given it 14 days to address raw sewage spillage.
According to Knysna municipality spokesperson Nwabisa Pondoyi, officials are in the process of disinfecting the Khayalethu reservoir in accordance with regulations.
