Covid-19 experts have allayed fears that South Africa could face a similar outbreak to China, saying that our population has much higher immunity to the virus.
The Asian country is now facing travel restrictions to several countries following an increase in new Covid-19 cases. Among the countries imposing restrictions on China are the United States, Japan, India, Malaysia and Taiwan.
Dr Jeremy Nel, head of infectious diseases at the University of the Witwatersrand, believes that, for now, there is no need for South Africans to panic.
