Taxi operators wreaked havoc in East London on Thursday morning, threatening teachers and pupils and forcing schools to close due to non-payment for scholar transport.
Operators contracted by the Eastern Cape transport department to ferry pupils to and from school said they have not been paid since January.
They claimed the department owed them R120 million.
