Mop-up operations got under way in Stellenbosch after a huge storm left a trail of destruction throughout the town.
The SA Weather Service [SAWS] issued a Level 9 warming for an intense low-pressure system sometimes referred to as a cut-off low, which made landfall on Monday morning.
The SAWS warned that there would be thundershowers and widespread showers throughout the province.
