Another Metrorail train in Cape Town was set alight, in the early hours of this morning. In what Regional Manager for the Western Cape, Richard Walker, is calling "a siege", another four carriages were destroyed by fire in Kraaifontein staging yard shortly after midnight.
The affected train-set was designated to the Kraaifontein – Muldersvlei route.
This morning's incident of "deliberate destruction" follows in the wake of last Saturday's fire where two adjoining trains were set alight on platforms 11 and 12 at Cape Town Station, directly affecting service routes.
Richard joined us in studio to shed light on the recent acts of vandalism on the service and its infrastructure, and Metrorail's ongoing battle with disgruntled employees. Watch.
