Steinhoff has agreed to allow the Federation of Unions of South Africa (Fedusa) and the Public Servants Association (PSA) access to their financials - dating as far back as 2002.
News24 spoke to Fedusa and PSA representatives outside Steinhoff's head offices in Stellenbosch on Friday, where documents were handed over.
They had requested to inspect the financial records to gain more insight, before making a decision on whether or not to lay criminal charges against the retail group, following Steinhoff's auditing scandal in December last year.
The unions have also pledged to protest at next weekend's Sun Met, if disgraced (former) CEO Markus Jooste's horses are not withdrawn from the races. Watch.
