Author Anastacia Tomson describes her experience of coming out as transgender, as covered in her memoir, Always Anastacia: A Transgender Life in South Africa.
She sat down with News24's Jenn Sanasie to discuss what brought her to write the book.
Thomson, who is also a doctor and trans activist, said compiling several chapters of the book was hard, as she recalled challenging experiences with people who did not understand her transgender identity.
