A video of an altercation between a metro police officer and a taxi driver in Durban is making the rounds on various social networks.
In the video that has been circulating since Tuesday, the officer is seen having a heated exchange with the motorist.
The taxi driver can be heard accusing the officer abusing his power – which escalates the interaction into a physical altercation.
"We are not sure what happened, but we are conducting an investigation," eThekwini metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad told News24.
The police were taking the matter seriously, he said.
Sewpersad couldn't reveal how long the investigation would take but shared that the officer involved in the altercation had not been suspended.
