A traffic officer and two others appeared in court earlier this week after allegedly conducting an illegal roadblock in Browns Farm, Philippi in Cape Town.
The three men had allegedly intended to collect bribe money from motorists.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana claimed that the traffic officer supplied them with uniforms.
She said the men were apprehended on Thursday, August 9 and appeared in the Athlone Magistrate's Court. They have been charged with corruption.
She couldn't confirm whether they were still in custody.
Following the release of the video, the Nyanga Police management have since instituted an investigation into the handling of the offenders.
