Video footage of a South African spear-fisherman's close encounter with a great white shark off the coast of Cape Town, has gone viral.
Johan Potgieter's footage, which featured in the GoPro awards, shows him attempting to spear-fish before two close brushes with a great white shark. At one point you can hear Potgieter screaming under water. He is eventually saved by a companion in a rubber dingy.
According to thesouthafrican.com, Potgieter was 19 metres under the water, near Skipskop reefs off Cape Town, when he spotted the shark coming towards him.
