South African Airways, the country's embattled national carrier, will remain in the spotlight at the Zondo commission on Friday, with testimony from Nontsasa Memela, the former head of procurement at South African Airways Technical (SAAT).

SAAT forms part of SAA and provides it with technical support and maintenance of its aircraft.

Schalk Hendrik Human, the acting head of supply chain management, told the inquiry on Thursday that the process to secure a supplier for aviation components was marred by irregularities.

Earlier this week, former SAA chairperson Vuyisile Kona testified that he was offered a R500 000 bribe by Tony Gupta at the family's Saxonwold home in late October 2012. He refused the money.
