It was unhappy hour for a truck driver who lost a huge load of beer after attempting to turn his vehicle in Paarden Eiland in Cape Town on Friday.
A video of the incident shows the truck driver struggling to reverse on the narrow road. Moments later, crates packed with beer fall from the tilted trailer, spilling into the street.
South African Breweries confirmed that the driver was an independent contractor, and described the incident as an "unfortunate error".
SAB director of communications Refilwe Masemola said the debris was cleared shortly after the incident.
She also said "necessary corrective measures" had been put in place to ensure a similar incident did not happen again.
SAB would not disclose how much stock was lost.
