WATCH: Security officer robbed of his firearm in parking lot

Police are searching for four suspects who were caught on camera robbing a private security officer at a Dobsonville shopping centre in Soweto.

The guard was robbed of a rifle while parked at the centre on Thursday.

In video that has gone viral online, two men are seen approaching the vehicle in the packed parking lot.

Both move towards the driver's window and one pulls out what might be a firearm from under his shirt.

Moments later, a third man joins them from the passenger side of the guard's van.

The three then jump into a white vehicle and flee the scene.

Dobsonville police spokesperson Constable Mzwakhe Xazi told News24 that no arrests had been made and that the investigation is ongoing.

A case of armed robbery has been opened.

Xazi has appealed to anyone with information regarding the incident to contact 08600 10111 or send an SMS to the crime tip-off line on 32211.
