A video has emerged of three thieves stealing a woman's handbag from right under her chair.
The incident happened last Friday at a restaurant at a Centurion shopping mall in Gauteng.
According to the owner of the establishment, most of their customers were inside the restaurant on the bitterly cold Friday evening.
With only three tables braving the cold outside the busy venue, most of the waitrons had taken refuge inside.
That is when the trio decided to take advantage and steal the handbag from right under their victim's nose.
Pretending to be customers, the crew executes its scheme in just under a minute before making a casual getaway.
"Our staff are usually vigilant for bag snatchers as it has become a problem at the mall," the owner admitted to News24.
Wierdabrug SAPS' Captain Agnes Huma confirmed that a case of general theft had been opened.
