South Africa cannot plausibly claim a position of non-alignment when it is actively working against American interests and undermining US allies, a committee of that country's House of Representatives heard on Wednesday night.

But if it is genuinely not the enemy of the USA, it has nothing to fear from a review of the bilateral relationship, the main proponent of just such a review argued.
