Less than three months after he was released for undisclosed reasons by Stellenbosch FC, centre forward Azola Jakalashe came off the bench to guide Cape Town Spurs to a 1-0 victory against Richards Bay in a bottom-of-the-log DStv Premiership clash on Friday evening at Athlone Stadium.
The result, however, does not change Spurs' place on the standings (16th - P25 W4 D3 L18 - 15pts) as they remain anchored in last place, but the three points have given the Urban Warriors a glimmer of hope with now five matches remaining to salvage their top-flight status.
They close the gap to five points on Richards Bay (15th - P25 W5 D5 L15 - 20pts), who arrived in the Mother City with back-to-back victories against Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs, yearning for another pack of maximum points to help steer their way to safety from returning to the National First Division (NFD), two seasons after earning promotion.
