A bride-to-be died during her bachelorette party when the tractor-pulled trailer she was standing on overturned.

Jasmin Schwarnthorer from Austria, who was set to get married in October, recently celebrated her hen party with several of her best friends.

The 26-year-old and her pals were standing on the trailer, on which she was being driven away from her parental farmstead by her brother, when the tragic accident happened.

Her 25-year-old brother Patrik was reportedly driving the tractor around a corner when the trailer suddenly flipped over while the 14 women were standing on it.

According to reports, Jasmin fell out and hit a stone wall. She was taken by helicopter to a hospital in the city of Linz in a critical condition.

Five other women were also severely injured, while seven were treated for minor injuries.

A few days after the accident, Jasmin succumbed from injuries to her head and chest.

The young woman’s niece and one of her friends are still in critical condition in hospital.

Local police have started an investigation involving Patrik on charges of involuntary manslaughter as the trailer was only fixed with one axle and wasn’t legally allowed to transport people.

"The transport was illegal. The vehicle can only be used in agricultural operations or in the forest,” said police chief Johann Baumschlager.

Jasmin's memorial service took place on Friday 21 September in a local church. She wore her white bridal dress.

Friends and family said they remember Jasmin as a loving and caring person "who always put the well-being of others in front of her own".

She worked as a nurse and was active in the traditional music ensemble of the town.
